Niyyah & Ikhlāṣ
|Where Real Ramadan Begins|
The first fast of Ramadan had ended.
The city carried that familiar after-iftar calm a blend of tiredness, quiet vulnerability, and a softened spiritual state.
Arzen stood on the balcony.
His phone was still in his hand the morning’s aesthetic story had gone viral.
Open Qur’an.
Candle glow.
Caption: “Ramadan Reset 🌙✨”
Notifications were pouring in like rain:
“MashAllah vibes 🔥”
“Goals Ramadan routine ”
He scrolled with his thumb…
and suddenly stopped.
Because behind the reflection of the screen,
he didn’t see his face.
He saw his heart.
And his heart asked one brutal question:
“Did you open the Qur’an for Allah… or for the perfect camera angle?”
The room felt heavier.
The candle flame stood straight.
But Arzen’s conscience did not.
That was the moment Ramadan truly began.
Not with the calendar.
With the heart.
🧠 The Ruthless Truth About Niyyah
People assume Ramadan changes them through routines:
Wake up early.
Gym + fast.
Productivity schedules.
Aesthetic Qur’an corners.
But the truth?
Ramadan doesn’t improve your image.
Ramadan exposes your intention.
And when the intention is flawed
the entire structure collapses.
📖 The Qur’anic Foundation
Surah Al-Bayyinah (98:5)
Arzen opened the Qur’an.
His eyes landed on a verse that struck deep:
“They were commanded only to worship Allah sincerely, making the religion purely for Him.”
(Qur’an 98:5)
“Mukhlisīna lahu ad-deen.”
Purely.
Exclusively.
For Him.
Allah did not say:
Do a lot.
Do it beautifully.
Make it inspiring.
Just one condition:
Do it for Me.
Ikhlāṣ is not extra credit.
Ikhlāṣ is the currency of acceptance.
📜 The Hadith That Shakes the Ego
Sahih al-Bukhari — First Hadith
“Actions are judged by intentions…”
Narrated by Umar ibn al-Khattab.
Imam Bukhari placed this hadith at the very start of his entire book.
Why?
Because:
Your deeds are rewarded not by their form but by their source.
And the source is the heart.
People cannot see it.
Allah can.
⚠️ The Terrifying Reality Check Sahih Muslim (1905)
There’s a hadith in Sahih Muslim that crushes the ego.
On the Day of Judgment, the first three people to be judged:
-
A scholar
-
A generous donor
-
A warrior
All performed huge Islamic deeds.
But Allah will say:
“You wanted to be called knowledgeable.”
“You wanted to be called generous.”
“You wanted to be called brave.”
Same actions.
Wrong intention.
Zero reward.
Dragged away.
Arzen closed his eyes.
“If these giants were rejected… what about my ‘Ramadan vibes’?”
This isn’t sugar-coated spirituality.
This is surgical Islam.
🌑 Hidden Riya |The Modern Spiritual Virus|
Riya (showing off) is rarely loud.
Today, it slips in silently.
Recording Qur’an recitation.
Sadqah with “pls share ❤️.”
Taraweeh outfits.
Duas with aesthetic backgrounds.
Islamic reels for engagement.
Worship becomes content.
Connection becomes secondary.
Riya = Worship + Audience
Ikhlāṣ = Worship + Allah
The test is simple:
If no one saw you would you still do it?
If yes → Ikhlāṣ.
If no → Reevaluate.
🌊 The Other Side ~ Hope from Sahih al-Bukhari (2466)
Islam doesn’t only warn.
It balances.
Another authentic narration from Sahih al-Bukhari:
A man gave a thirsty dog some water.
That’s it.
No camera.
No caption.
No “kindness challenge.”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Allah thanked him and forgave him.”
A tiny deed.
A pure heart.
A massive reward.
Arzen smiled.
“Allah doesn’t want quantity.
He wants clarity.”
🧼 Why Fixing Niyyah Heals Modern Anxiety
Today’s emotional cycle:
Comparison.
Validation-seeking.
Performance pressure.
Spiritual burnout.
But when the intention is only for Allah:
No audience.
No competition.
No aesthetics to maintain.
Just you, Him, and sincerity.
Performance ends.
Peace begins.
🤲 Day 1 Dua Protection From Hidden Shirk
Authentic ~ Mustadrak, graded Sahih
(Yeh hadith Mustadrak kitab mein hai aur muhadditheen ne isay verify karke ‘Sahih’ ka darja diya hai.)
Arzen raised his hands:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُشْرِكَ بِكَ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا أَعْلَمُ
“Allahumma inni a‘udhu bika an ushrika bika wa ana a‘lam,
wa astaghfiruka lima la a‘lam.”
O Allah, I seek refuge from associating anything with You knowingly,
and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly.
Riya is called “hidden shirk” because the heart’s direction shifts silently.
And direction determines destination.
🔁 Day 1 Action Plan (No Drama. Just Discipline.)
1.) Astaghfirullah —> 100 times
Intention detox.
2.) 5-minute pre-ibadah pause
Ask: “Who am I doing this for?”
3.) One secret deed
No story.
No hint.
No audience.
4.) No ibadah posts for 24 hours
Observe your heart’s reaction.
If you feel uneasy
you found the problem.
🔥 The Ruthless Conclusion
Arzen wrote:
“Ramadan doesn’t change me.
My intention for Ramadan changes me.”
A fast without intention = hunger.
Taraweeh without intention = movement.
Qur’an without intention = reading practice.
But with sincere niyyah?
Minutes become mountains.
🧵 Final Thread
Ramadan Day 1 isn’t about:
Routines.
Aesthetics.
Productivity.
Goals.
It’s about truth.
Transformation begins
where performance ends.
Tomorrow, we knock on the door of Rahmah.
But today
Clean the lens of your heart.
Because Allah doesn’t look at your feed.
He looks at your intention. 🌙
