Day ~ 10 | Hazrat Khadija (RA): The Woman Allah Sent Salam |

The Salam That Came From Above the Seven Heavens

In Islamic history, there is only one woman to whom Allah Himself sent Salam.

Not to a king.
Not to a warrior.
Not to a scholar.

But to…

Khadija bint Khuwaylid.

Authentic Hadith narrates:

When Jibreel (A.S.) came to the Prophet ﷺ, he said:

“Khadija is coming carrying food. When she arrives, convey to her greetings of peace from her Lord and from me.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 3820, Sahih Muslim 2432)

Along with this salam, Allah gave her glad tidings of a palace in Paradise made of pearls
a home where there will be no noise and no fatigue.

Think about it.

A life filled with sacrifice in this world…
was rewarded with eternal peace in the Hereafter.

Full Name, Lineage & Birth Noble Roots

Full Name: Khadija bint Khuwaylid ibn Asad ibn Abdul-Uzza
Clan: Banu Asad ( one of the most respected families of Quraysh )
Birth: Around 555 CE
Place: Mecca

Even before Islam, people called her:

الطاهرة (Al-Tahira)

(The Pure One)

She was already known for integrity, dignity, and leadership long before revelation began.

The Businesswoman Who Built an Empire

If any woman in history deserves the title “CEO”, it is Khadija (RA).

She was:

  • An international trader

  • Owner of caravans to Syria and Yemen

  • Manager of contractual trade delegations

  • Leader of a highly structured financial network

Her business looked like a modern corporate system.

And within this empire, she hired a young man known only for his honesty:

Muhammad ibn Abdullah ﷺ.

At that time:

  • The Prophet ﷺ was 25 years old

  • Khadija (RA) was 40 years old

The First Meeting Character Before Love

Khadija bint Khuwaylid entrusted Muhammad ibn Abdullah with one of her most significant trade expeditions to Syria, appointing her trusted servant Maysarah to accompany and observe the journey.

When the caravan returned to Mecca, the report she received went far beyond commercial success.

Maysarah spoke of a man whose honesty never wavered even under the intense pressures of trade negotiations. Transactions were conducted with complete fairness, promises were honored without compromise, and integrity remained visible in every interaction.

Yes, the profits had multiplied.

But what left the deepest impression were the subtle signs of dignity and divine care witnessed throughout the journey moments that reflected a character unlike any other merchant of Quraysh.

  • Khadija (RA) was not moved merely by financial gain or business achievement.
  • She was moved by something far greater:

truthfulness, trustworthiness, and moral excellence qualities that distinguished Muhammad ﷺ long before Prophethood was revealed.

The Proposal  A Woman Who Chose Faith Over Social Norms

She sent a marriage proposal through her friend Nafisa bint Munyah.

Mahr: Approximately 20 camels

This marriage was built on:

  • Mutual respect

  • Emotional safety

  • Deep companionship

  • Intellectual harmony

And the Prophet ﷺ did not marry anyone else for 25 years.

 Family & Children

Their daughters were:

  • Zaynab bint Muhammad

  • Ruqayyah bint Muhammad

  • Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad

  • Fatimah bint Muhammad

Her famous son-in-law:

Ali ibn Abi Talib.

The Wealth That Protected Islam During Its Hardest Days

One of the strongest foundations of early Islam was the financial sacrifice of Khadija (RA).

During the boycott of Shi‘b Abi Talib, Muslims faced:

  • starvation

  • economic isolation

  • social exclusion

Her wealth was used to:

  • purchase food

  • secretly supply necessities

  • sustain vulnerable believers

The Prophet ﷺ later said:

No wealth has ever benefited me as much as the wealth of Khadija.”
Musnad Ahmad 24864 (Hasan)

The Night Revelation Began And the First Heart That Believed

On the night revelation began in the Cave of Hira…

Jibreel (A.S.) commanded:

“Iqra — Read.”

Overwhelmed, the Prophet ﷺ returned home trembling, saying:

“Zammilooni, Zammilooni…”

“Cover me, cover me.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari 3, 4953)

At that defining moment stood Khadija (RA).

She said:

“Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 4953)

She became the first believer in Islam.

No demand for proof.
No hesitation.
Only certainty.

The Visit to Waraqah Confirmation of Prophethood

After this, Khadija (RA) took the Prophet ﷺ to her cousin, Waraqah ibn Nawfal.

Waraqah was a learned scholar and a monotheist who was well-versed in the previous scriptures. Upon hearing the Prophet’s account, he said:

“This is the same Angel (Jibreel) who was sent to Moses (A.S.).”

He further warned:

“Would that I were alive to support you when your people turn you out.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 4953)

Youm-e-Wisaal The Year of Sorrow

In the 10th year of Prophethood, Khadija bint Khuwaylid (RA) passed away. This was a time when the early Muslim community was already enduring severe persecution. Only a short while before, the Prophet’s ﷺ greatest protector, Abu Talib ibn Abd al-Muttalib, had also passed away.

The loss of these two beloved supporters marked the year profoundly, and it became known as عام الحزن

‘Aam al-Huzn (The Year of Sorrow).

Seerah sources report that Rasulullah personally attended her funeral. Khadija (RA) was laid to rest in Jannat al-Mu‘alla cemetery

📍 Jannat al-Mu'alla, Makkah. At that time, the formal rulings for Janazah (funeral prayer) in Islam had not yet been fully revealed, so the modern structured Janazah format was not performed.

This year left an indelible mark on the Prophet, highlighting the depth of his personal losses alongside the trials faced by the early Muslim community.

Arzen’s Reflection  Learning Love for the Sake of Allah

It was the 10th of Ramadan.

Arzen sat quietly, emails open before him, yet unable to focus.

Only one name stayed in his mind  Khadija.

Last Ramadan, he had read about her for the first time.
This year, the same date felt heavier.

He opened his diary and wrote:

“I constantly ask Allah to see my struggles…
then I remember Khadija (RA).
The woman whose loyalty carried Islam itself.”

He paused, then added:

“If Khadija (RA) had not stood beside the Prophet ﷺ…
would I even be Muslim today?”

Closing the diary, he whispered:

“O Allah… grant me even a fraction of her loyalty.”

A Legacy That Still Teaches Us

Hazrat Khadija (RA) teaches us:

  • Wealth is a tool for the Hereafter

  • Marriage is partnership

  • Support is worship

  • Loyalty earns divine reward

  • Faith comes before evidence

  • Character rises above culture

Her lesson is simple:

Allah never overlooks loyalty.

❓A Question for You

If life gave you one chance…

Which quality of Khadija (RA) would you want most in your life?

  • Loyalty?

  • Sacrifice?

  • Emotional wisdom?

  • Generosity?

  • Unshakeable faith?

I genuinely want to know.
