Arzen stood by his shop window when a small scene across the street pulled his attention.
A little girl was decorating her home with her mother. Fairy lights in her hands. Clay lamps on the floor. And joy on her face so pure it felt illegal in a tired world.
She kept saying, “Mama, put the light here. Look, it’s so pretty!”
Arzen looked at her. Then at the shelves behind him. Rows of candles. Perfectly shaped. Perfectly silent.
And a thought pierced him:
“We decorate our homes so beautifully… but what about the places inside us no one sees?”
That question refused to leave.
He walked to his candle bench and picked up a small clay pot. Rough. Uneven. Earthy. Alive.
As wax melted and fragrance filled the room, something inside him began melting too. He sprinkled dried flower petals on top with slow, careful hands.
“Clay only becomes beautiful after pressure… heat… breaking,” he whispered. “Maybe the soul does too.”
He opened his Arabic dictionary. One word stopped him cold.
Tajaddud (تَجَدُّد). Renewal. Rebirth. Becoming new again.
His chest tightened.
“This is it,” he said.
Tajaddud A Candle for Your New Beginning.
The flame flickered.
And in its small, trembling light… another idea was born.
The Moment of Realization
“If this candle is about renewal… then isn’t Ramadan the greatest rebirth of all?”
The thought landed heavy. Arzen sat down with his journal, and words spilled out faster than he could control.
People fast. People pray. People read the Quran.
But…
Do they understand why?
Do they know why the First Ashra is called Rahmah?
Why the Second Ashra is Maghfirah?
Why the Third Ashra is Najat?
Do they know why some duʿas were revealed in moments of pain?
Why certain words were taught during fear, grief, and exhaustion?
Why tasbeeh doesn’t just count — it heals?
And then came the question that hurt the most:
How do ancient duʿas speak to modern wounds?
Overthinking.
Heartbreak.
Anxiety.
Burnout.
That quiet feeling of being lost.
Arzen leaned back and stared at the candle.
“That girl is decorating her house,” he thought.“But Allah is calling us to decorate our souls.”
Something inside him clicked.
Clear. Complete. Certain.
A 30-day Ramadan series.
Short.
Powerful.
Prophetic.
Healing.
He opened a fresh page and wrote:
