The Day Mercy Finds Those Who Surrender

This is Day 2 of the Ramadan Soul Adornment Series. before you continue, make sure you read Day 1 ~ The Intention No One Sees ~ because every journey of mercy begins with intention.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in darkness emotionally, spiritually, or mentally

then today’s reminder is meant for you.

Jummah Morning ~ Arzen Searching for the Door of Mercy

It was the second morning of Ramadan. A Jummah filled with softness and noor.

Arzen sat on his prayer mat.

Yesterday he had written:

“Tomorrow, we knock on the door of Divine Mercy…”

But this morning, a deeper question rose inside him:

“How do you knock on Allah’s door?”

Is it with long sajdahs?
With extra tasbeeh?
With being perfect?

The room was silent.
He opened the Qur’an
and Allah placed a story right in front of him.

The Story Allah Chose Yunus (A.S.)

On that page was the tale of:

A Prophet,
a nation,
a storm,
a whale,
and a dua
that will rescue humanity until the end of time.

Who Was Yunus (A.S.)?

A Prophet of Allah.
His mission: The people of Nineveh (in modern-day Iraq).
His message: Tawheed, repentance, and compassion.

But his people kept rejecting him.

Frustration. Exhaustion. Pain.

And in a moment of human impatience
not rebellion
he left before Allah’s final command.

This wasn’t punishment.
It was divine training.
A lesson for every believer.

The Storm When Destiny Shifts

Yunus (A.S.) boarded a ship.
Soon the skies changed.
Winds roared.
Waves crashed violently.

The sailors were experienced.
They knew this storm was not ordinary.

“There is a divine matter here,” they said.

Why Did the Sailors Draw Lots? And Why His Name Three Times?

In those ancient days, sailors believed that during supernatural storms,
someone on board was the cause of divine displeasure.

So they drew lots.

First draw:

The name came out Yunus (A.S.)
They hesitated.
“He seems too noble,” they said.

Second draw:

Again Yunus (A.S.)

The storm intensified.

Third draw:

Once more the same name.

Then they realized:

This is Allah’s decree.

And the most beautiful part?

They did not throw him overboard.
He accepted Allah’s plan
and stepped into the sea on his own.

This was surrender not despair.

🐋 The Triple Darkness

Allah commanded a great whale.
It swallowed Yunus (A.S.) without harming him.

And he found himself in:

  1. The darkness of the night

  2. The darkness of the ocean

  3. The darkness inside the whale

This was the lowest point of his life.

But also the turning point.

The Dua That Shatters Every Barrier

Inside the whale, he recited:

“La ilaha illa Anta, Subhanaka, inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen.”
(Surah Al-Anbiya 21:87)

This dua contains the formula of all spiritual rescue:

✔ Pure Tawheed
✔ Pure Tasbeeh
✔ Admission of mistake
✔ Breaking of ego

Allah said:

“Had he not been among those who glorify Allah,
he would have remained inside the whale until the Day of Judgment.”

(Surah As-Saffat 37:143–144)

And here… Arzen finally understood:

The Secret of Divine Mercy

Mercy doesn’t come by knocking.

Mercy comes by surrender.

Allah does not descend His mercy on perfect people.
He descends it upon honest people —
those who can say:

“My Lord, it was me. I was the one at fault.”

This is the door of Rehma.

Authentic Prophetic Teachings on Mercy

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah will not show mercy to him.”
(Sahih Muslim 2319)

And:

“Show mercy to those on earth, and the One in the heavens will show mercy to you.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1924 — Hasan Sahih)

Mercy attracts mercy.
Arrogance closes doors.
Confession opens them.

Our Modern Whale-Belly Moments

Today, we experience our own triple darkness:

1️⃣ Relationship darkness

Conflicts, toxic bonds, emotional wounds.

2️⃣ Emotional darkness

Anxiety, guilt, overthinking.

3️⃣ Spiritual darkness

Praying yet feeling empty.
Doing dhikr yet feeling distant.

In these conditions:

Escape doesn’t work.
Blame doesn’t work.

Only this dua works
because it doesn’t change the situation…
it changes you.

And once you change,
Allah changes your destiny.

🌿 Arzen’s Jummah Resolution

His plan for today:

100x
La ilaha illa Anta Subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen

100x
Astaghfirullah wa atubu ilayh

100x
Durood Shareef

1 hidden act of mercy
Forgive someone —
even if they don’t deserve it.

🌙 Final Message ~ For You

If your eyes reached this line…
maybe you’re also standing in your own darkness:

A relationship breaking,
a career drowning,
a guilt you cannot erase,
a spiritual emptiness you cannot explain.

Don’t knock.

Surrender.

Because the message of Jummah is simple:

Allah grants mercy to those
who are brave enough to admit their mistakes.

🌙 Jummah Mubarak.

May Allah soften our hearts before He tests them,
and forgive us before we even ask.
Ameen.

Ramadan Soul Adornment ~ Day ~ continues tomorrow.
Because this journey of the soul has only just begun.
